Bo Arnklit, Danish by birth spent his childhood in Denmark, finished high school in Rome and graduated in physics the UK in 1975. He moved back to Rome where he built up his professional and entrepreneurial life, initially working in the field of electro-acoustics and consumer electronics and publishing several articles in the leading magazines AUDIOreview and MCmicrocomputer. In the mid-eighties he began designing MC-link, an experimental on-line service, which subsequently became one of the first Italian Internet Providers. He is co-founder of MC-link SpA where he currently occupies the role of vice president. His keen interest in photography goes right back to his childhood when at seven he received his first camera* and was fascinated by the magic of developing and printing in the darkroom. After spending hours in his own darkroom for years experimenting with different developers and papers to control contrast and grain, and dodging and burning to create the right look, over the last decade he has, mostly out of necessity, turned to a fully digital workflow. Although a keen observer of all things digital and an early adopter of new technologies he still likes to keep postproduction and printing to an "ethical minimum" while concentrating on obtaining the desired effects right in the camera. In recent years he has been enjoying participating in photographic workshops by Italian and International photographers including Ernesto Bazan, Pieter Ten Hoopen, Franco Marocco, Roberto Rocchi, Sandro Santioli, Eddie Soloway and Francesco Zizola. He is co-founder and vice president of the association of photographers "Lo Zen e il tiro con l'arco". Exhibitions: "La natura morta – tra fotografia e disegno", 2003, Rome. I had made a snowman and thought that it would make for a really good subject as it would stay absolutely still while I photographed it. To make it really good I put the camera on a table in front of it and pressed the shutter, counting to three before releasing it again. Of course the picture came out so white that the showman was nowhere to be seen. My father had the gift of explaining in very simple terms how things work, and after showing how a glass could be filled with water either by a dripping tap waiting a long time, or by opening the tap fully for only a few seconds, I quickly grasped the notion of aperture and shutter-speed, and was all set to start my career in photography."
